A practical use is fuel access. Where a card-lock or fuel station supports one-time passcodes (OTP), an authorized code can be sent to the operator’s in-cab Lynxfield screen. The operator receives the code on the assigned vehicle device and enters it at the fuel lock station.
This approach can reduce the need to issue another mobile device just to receive a code. It also keeps the workflow tied to the vehicle and the operational system. The exact expiry time, authorization rules, and station response remain under the control of the fuel system and its integration.
Operational messages where the work happens
The same screen can carry the short messages that keep field work moving: route changes, site access instructions, weather-related requirements, shift updates, work priorities, and requests to contact base. Dispatch can send information to a specific operator, vehicle, or remote user rather than depending on a general radio broadcast.
Messages can be presented clearly and retained long enough for the operator to review them when it is safe to do so. That matters when a crew is working in noise, poor coverage, or changing conditions where a voice call may be missed or misunderstood.
Two-way communication from cab to base
The option also supports messages back from the cab. Operators can acknowledge instructions, confirm completion, report a delay, or request assistance. Base staff get a direct response through the same fleet environment instead of piecing together information from radio calls, texts, and separate applications.
